Bovec and its area have added the most to the fame of the Soca area in the tourist offers. The Bovec area is a huge natural monument. A large part of the municipality is placed inside of Triglav National Park, with a modern, well-equipped and extremely helpful information center in the famous Trenta valley. The source of the river Soca, the most stunning rivers in Europe, is in the Bovec area. Wonderful little lakes are lying in the mountains around Bovec, the home of the gold-horned ibex; at Kaninski Podi one can find potholes up to 1000 m deep, among the deepest in the world. The Boka waterfall, which is 106 metres high, is only one of a multitude hidden in the deep Alpine valleys.
There is a wealthy historic heritage to be discovered at every move; the solace of the small churches, the awe-inspiring fort of Kluže rising tall over the torrential Koritnica, and the ruins of First World War positions which might be an everlasting reminder of this senseless slaughter. In the town itself one can admire the beauty and originality of the countryside buildings – the traditional buildings of the area and their surroundings, sensitively joining with the surroundings, and the old farms in the mountain valleys standing as a monument to persistence and determination and to the energy of the local people.
